Where to get Brass tubing 3.2 mm inside diameter

I am about to start making staples from brass tubing but I only have the Concert D Staples 4.0mm inside diameter got from the NPU. My last order from the NPU I asked for flat reed staples but got more brass tubing for Concert D Staples.

I need 3.2mm inside diameter brass tubing for my Rooge C and B chanter.

I also need a mandrel for staple inside diameter 3.2mm.

Can anyone help be find the supplier for the brass tubing and mandrel

Bye for now

Fergus,
Try a model airoplain & car shop they will stock it, K&S engineering
Chicago,IL make it,

that will be what your looking for, all the best Stew. :sunglasses:

Hi Fergus

If you cannot find a model shop that stocks it have a look through the advertising pages of either the “Model Engineer” or “Engineering in Miniature” magazines for stockists that have a mail order facility.

Try Small Parts Inc. www.smallparts.com.

Do Rogge flat chanters still have tuning slides, and use tube stables?

I sent a fax to Model Shop (Belfast) Ltd and got a reply that "Sorry, we do not have.

Would I be able to get the 3.2 tubing from pipe makers eg Cillian Ó Briain, Alan Ginsberg or make rolled staples.

All the best

Hi Kevin

Rogge web page quotes “Tuning slide for tenor and baritone regulator” and this is for both D and Flat sets but I do not know anything about tuning slides in Rogge flat chanters or D. He still uses tube staples.

bye for now

Fergus,
If you don’t manage to obtain any tubing send me a PM and I’ll send you some, all the best Stew. :sunglasses:

Sent a letter to Cillian Ó Briain about the 3.2 diameter tubing, mandrel, and also about slip halving block, tip cutting block, sanding block and scraping knife.

Will let you know when I get a reply from Cillian Ó Briain.

All the best

Try to ask for 5/32" O.D. tubing at your hobby shop. K&S makes it in the US, and frogish metric measurements only cloud the issue. The inch RULES!

Ted

My Rogge regs use a smaller-than-chanter-reed staple. Don’t have the diameter in my head, but I was able to find what I needed at my local hobby shop. It is made of copper. The trick has been to find a mandril for shaping this small tubing. I don’t have the right one yet, but inserting a very narrow flat headed screwdriver in the staple and crimping onto that has helped some.

Got a relpy from Cillain O Briain today in this morning mail.

Cillain uses copper tubing because it iseasier to fom up. Brass tubing is also sold from http://www.hobby.uk.com/cgi-bin/hobbys-cgi/Catalogue.pl?cat=Materials

I will be ordering the tubing from the above hobby shop as Cillain said it is for big quantily ie 10 + at 84 pence sterling for 12" lengths

He has no scraping knifes left in stock but said you can get one from http://www.howarth.uk.com/access.aspx?mop=1&R=O the cheaper one is the one ihe uses.

All the best
