where to buy Jonathan Johnston cds??

Has anybody heard of this guy before? My uncle bought me a cd from somewhere in Belfast and I put it on and was amazed. His sound is incredible. I’m trying to locate some more of his discs but I can’t. Does anyone know where I can get them? The one I have is called Favourite irish melodies

ANy help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Harry

Awesome!!! Is that an Olwell he´s playing?

Must be Patrick’s most recent model not yet available to the general public. I think Jimmy Galway has one too.

Thanks, i’ve gone onto his site. It seems he hasn’t the right music uploaded yet though under each cd. I think we need to pardon Mr Johnston that it’s a concert flute he is playing as his renditions of these Irish tunes are simply beautiful. I discovered there are a few other sites such as rhapsody where you can hear samples of him playing these tunes. Harry

He plays with De Danann.

Not according to Alec Finn, he doesn’t!

Well, I tried to give the guy a fair listening. But his site crashed on me (or my browser refused to play any more) when I’d only listened to one sample track. (And you can only listen to Rhapsody if you’re in the States.) However, from that one track, I think it’s safe to say the following:

This wouldn’t be for everyone. It wasn’t for me. What I heard sounded twee. “Beautiful” is how Fintan Valelly plays (for example). BTW, and pardon my possible ignorance in this, but is the term “concert flute” an ambiguous term? Irish guys seem to use it for the instrument generally played in Irish music, as opposed to this metal Boehm system flute. Or is it a term that varies with the age of the instrument?

Well that was quite a celtic journey.
