Wanted to buy - Dixon, Syn, Alba whistles

Hi,

I picked up a Dixon polymer tuneable Bb on the Praise Whistler site. I am enjoying it.

I recently bought a Syn D,C,Eb set and I like the pure tone. Pretty nice step up whistles for a good price. and it’s fairly decent volume cuts in the small band I’m in.

But, I would still like a Dixon D and C because I like the slightly breathier tone…would come in handy on certain pieces.

Does the guy who make Syns also make Bb whistles and lower (besides the new low D that’s out)

I would also like to get a low A and low G whistle. I can’t afford the really high priced ones…I hear Alba are good whistles.

So, I’d be interested in buying:
Dixon Polymer tuneable D, C
Syn Bb (or even a set of Bb, A, and G if they come like that)
Alba low A or low G

Let me know! thank you!

Erle Bartlett is the maker of Syn whistles. I was told by him that he would make whistles down to A but the A was the lowest that his Syn design would accomodate. The A was described as a little weak- that headjoint design wasn’t as effective with the A tube as with his other keys. I’m not sure about the Bb but I can’t imagine it would be that far off.

Check your PMs, KAT.

Erle is making a low D? I hadn’t heard. When did he start?

Yes, there is a Syn Low D available from Gaelics Crossings.
$140 US. Check it out.

Check out Ian Turnbull’s website of the Impempe whistles. Beautiful looking and very fine sounding whistles. On Gaelic Crossings there’s a review.
