I have been off line for two weeks since lightning blew my modem away.
Today I installed a new one and while emptying the mailbox I found several e-mails saying the ywere from members of this board [fergus maunsell, eskin and others] with subject ‘Hi’. Virusses doing the rounds.

I had only two emails sent on the 19 Jan 04 From David Power and Gerhard.Poh with subject ‘Hi’ also.
I wonder if a good surge protector have saved your modem.

There’s a free edition of anti-virus http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php (bottom of page) that works pretty well and will protect and cure your home computer system. It updates regularly and you can choose your own settings. My isp filters out all infected email, but not all attachemnts. Attachments are harmless until they’re opened, and that’s how they sneak past the isp I think. The whistle forum has a thread about this virus, I haven’t read it though.
I notice C&F has changed their settings back to manual refresh instead of auto.
