Computer Viruses and Chiff and Fipple

In my Sunday paper I read about a virus that was attacking computer servers yesterday. Did anyone notice a problem with Chiff and Fipple? It was very slow moving from page to page and then wouldn’t load at all. I think they are calling this virus Slammer. It doesn’t affect home computers just servers.

I did notice that every site I went to yesterday was very slow loading, not just C&F.

I thought it was only me, I ran my anti-virus hardware, which didn’t help, so I defragged the thing and still nothing!

Giving up, I went and practiced “Inisheer”! (almost as frustrating)

Got a clip? It’s possibly my all-time fave slow air.

Serpie, just this one! I’ve been using it along with the sample of sheet music that goes with it.

This is a great sight, with a lot of tunes for a beginner like myself!

The last one will get you to the sound clip.

There was another DDoS type attack yesterday. Basically, a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) gets a whole bunch of systems to make requests (Usually of one specific server) to crash a server. This one was attacking the servers that direct traffic to different sites (Kind of like traffic cops. 4 or 5 cars, no problem. 80 million cars, problem.)

If your computer was part of the attack (Which they can be without your knowledge), then the virus scanners probably don’t have this one in their DAT files since it is new.

That was the reason for the slowdown…there were a couple articles about it at CNN and MSN.com
