Virtual Sessions for the newbies

Hello Folks,

I stumbled across a website called Virtual Sessions. I was so delighted to find it that I wanted to share it with you.

Rather than posting it out right I checked the arcives to see if this has been posted before. Yup! sure enough it has by Loren.

Thanks Loren for posting it. For the Newbies who have not stumbled across this yet just go to the arcives and type in Virtual Sessions. There you will find the link to it.

I think you will enjoy it just as I have.
I believe in another thread there was mention of an addiction to spending too much time on celtic music.

Well, my whole day has been spent on this site today.

Enjoy!

Laura

Can you see how one can spend a whole day printing and playing and listening and enjoying?

I must refrain from getting back on this site today… chores to do.

I can’t seem to get this website to work…

Everything comes up visually just fine but there is no audio and then it freezes all my windows and I am unable to even go offline except by toolbar and I have to reboot.

Any suggestions? Or any other virtual sessions I could try?

Deb

I’ve had occasional trouble with it, too, but find that if I go that site first when I sign on it works great. Don’t know what difference that would make (my error messages keep saying something about the sound card). The site itself is a riot - I’ve had a ton of fun on it.

I am not a computer whiz… perhaps the website is busy.

Occasionally I am unable to get a set of songs to come up. But, I have never had my computer freeze up from it.

It is a riot to play along with. And you can record it through your computer mic and practice it offline. It does not come out perfect, occasionally you get gaps and cracks but it turns out pretty good.

And if you have the Amazing Slow Downer program you can slow it down to make it easier to follow.

Have Fun!

The nice thing about this site is that it combines the benefit of playing with “others” and backing plus the steady time of playing with a metronome.

Thanks to everyone for all the tips.

Out of all of the tunes provided at this site, which set (so far) strikes your fancy?

I like the set that has…Fox Hunters, Johnny Docherty’s and The Butterfly. Particularly Johnny Docherty’s. I never would of played the B part that way had I not heard it first.

Again, that confirms first listening to a tune before you learn it.

The same goes for the tune Off To California. I never would of played those 8th notes that way.

The second set that I am partial to is Lark in the Morning, Humours of Glendart And The Tenpenny Bit.

So far those are the ones that I am mostly focusing on from this site. I am sure I will find a few more favorites once I get these down. Notice I did not write “master” these tunes?

Happy Jamming!

I love Slow Barn Dance - partly because I can actually play it, but because I love the rhythm. I have to admit to some swaying when I listen to it. It makes me want to dance!
