Vancouver Folk Festival

I just found out that I will be volunteering for the Vancouver Folk Festival this year! What’s even better, I’m doing postering, so won’t have to work the weekend of the festival itself - leaving time for tons of listening, browsing the vendors, and even a little schmoozing with stars. (Just kidding - I wouldn’t know how to schmooze even if I took lessons.)
There is only one Irish group on the lineup this year - De Dannan - but several of my favorite Canadian songwriters will be there, and a couple of hot groups from Quebec.
Anyone else planning to go?

When is it? Is there a webpage?

Cheers,

Stef

Hi Sorry I didn’t answer right away. I’m trying to put the link, but I’m not good at this, so I’ll just have to see if it works. If not, just do a google search with Vancouver Folk Festivel.
The dates are July 19, 20 and 21.

P.S. Nope didn’t work. I wonder why the address won’t even show up, even if it doesn’t work as a link?

I was hoping to make this but I now can’t. I’m really bummed because Rory McLeod is playing – he is awesome, and one of the reasons I gave up playing ‘harp’. If you go do see him. I’ll only be a little jealous.

Try the above link to check it out.

Well, I won’t be able to go AGAIN this year, but this time the reason’s a great one. I’ll be in Quebec City July 1-21 taking an immersion program for teachers.

Ah, but there’s the summer festival in Quebec City! Dervish will be there, and most evenings will have lots of free time to go check things out. Blackbird, who’s on your list to see at the VFF?

I’m also looking forward to Rory McLeod, who I heard at the festival a few years ago. Also: James Keelaghan, Stephen Fearing, Ferron, and La Bottine Souriante. But there’s always something you’ve never heard before that captures your attention at this festival. This year it might be the women of Marakesh. But who knows?
