2005 Celtic College and Roots Festival in Goderich ONT. ?

I am thinking of attending the Celtic College (July 31 - Aug 7th) in Goderich Ontario this year and I have been checking their www site (http://www.celticfestival.ca/) every so often for new information. Does anyone know when the schedule and events information is likely to be posted? I have heard that it is a great time but would like more details about who is teaching and performing this year before I make final plans (and before encouraging various family members to come along…)

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Things usually start getting updated in April, as I recall.

My wife has been searching the net looking for people who are going. I’ll try to get her to post her most recent list. The only people I recall at the moment were Nancy Kerr and James Fagin.

I was talking with Loretto Reid (she teaches there) last week and she said that the organizers have been away, but are due home shortly, so I am sure we will see something soon.

John, while who is performing and who is teaching is important, there is so much more to that week…I guess I would say it is the spirit and friendliness that just seems to pervade the whole week. if you are even thinking of going, I would suggest you make accomodation plans right away; you can always cancel.

Sol, I am delighted that Nancy Kerr and James Fagan will be back. Loretto mentioned that Robin Huw Bowen will be back, but not the rest of Crasdant. I got my Mountain Road Cd and book and I am working on The Boys of Ballisodaire. That was an invaluable tip, thanks again. Loretto said they will likely include some of those tunes in the CD this year.

Me too! I really liked them.

I’m glad you’re enjoying it! (BTW, Boys of Ballisodaire and the Five Mile Chase were on the Goderich 2001(?) CD, and Willie Coleman’s on the 2000.)

Okay, here’s a copy of the e-mail my wife sent me. This information is gathered from searching websites to see where performers say they will be, so it is not confirmed by the festival and is far from complete! -Sol

Loretto has been nominated for a Juno Award (Canadian Music Awards) for best instrumental album of the year (Celtic Reverie). This is her second year in a row. She is going to make me copies of the back Celtic College Cds.
