anyone coming to see dervish in quebec city?

quebec city’s annual music festival is coming up, and dervish is playing on the 8th and 9th of july. if any c&fers are going to be in town, i’ll be up for a pint and telling where the cool places are in the city.

Yes!!

I’ll be in Quebec for the first time and have timed it right for seeing the festival. I’ll email you in the next few days and would love the opportunity to connect with a fellow C&Fer.

Can’t wait!!

sounds good jeff! i am going to make a few calls and see if i can volunteer for one of their shows and maybe meet them. i am a beginner but it would be a blast to try to jam with them after the show.

Ah, Dervish! I am envious! They are my very favourite Irish band. I am far from Canada, but just wanted to join in the “Dervish worhship.” They are fantastic! Enjoy the festival!

Dervish, DeDannan (and Oyster Band) will be at the Winnipeg Folk Festival which runs July 10 - 13. We are only 500 miles north of Minneapolis!

I just hope they give you a better performance than the one they put on here last March. They shared a bill with Karan Kasey and I was genuinely disappointed with the whole thing. Not that I’ve any real right to criticize professional musicians, but it was easily the most lifeless performance I’ve ever seen from an Irish band. In this auditorium, you could get a standing ovation for a dramatic reading of a Cheerios box, but the appaluse for this show was almost as if begrudged.

Chuck,
That is very interesting. I have seen them 3 or 4 times live and every time they have been thrilling to watch and to hear. Maybe you caught them on an off day - everyone has one of those occasionally - maybe they had jetlag or something!

i know, i have never heard of dervish lacking energy in a show. i hope they will be up to par it while in quebec.

I saw them in Northridge and was very impressed. They are much better live than on CD. They all showed up afterthe show in the lobby and signed CD’s and visited with anyone who wanted to stick around.
