It is cool enough that stews, casseroles, and bread baking sound appealing.
Savory cobblers would also be a nice treat.
Creamy chowder (corn, potato, or clam) served with either a quick bread or rolls also sounds good.
We are invited to go to a friends house to night. I have no Idea what we are having.
I hate being in charge of dinner.
We are probably going to give the stick-in-the-mud, stay at home kid mac and cheese, then the other 3 of us will grab a burrito at Salsarita’s before our 6:30 Baltimore Hippodrome play.
Ask again later. 1 out of 5 times you would find that I actually had a dinner idea.
I’m making a lentil stew at this very moment.
If I had any bean sprouts in I would make a stir fry.
Don’t forget that Tuesday coming is PANCAKE day!
I’m coming over.

Tonight is bean tostadas. Home-cooked black beans, with onion, chiles, cumin, bouillon, garlic, and some herbs, all whipped up with a hand blender. Topped with shredded lettuce, tomato, homemade salsa, and yogurt (instead of sour cream).
Last night was orange pork chops. Seared then slow cooked with a sauce of orange juice, onion, orange zest, red pepper flakes, bouillon, and some white vinegar. Served over noodles.

I’m slow roasting a hunk of beef today.

That goes great with some honey mustard in the sauce too! One of my wife’s favorites! Gosh! I wish I hadn’t already prepared my “mess-in-place” for the soup!
Honey-mustard is a great idea.
My wife has some leftovers soup in the crock pot now, too. Great minds think alike.
Pizza - extra cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms (fresh, not canned). I could eat it seven days a week. In fact, when I was in college, I did. ![]()

You could eat during each of the seven days! That would have been cool!
Moros y Cristianos (Cuban-style black beans & rice). Actually, since I use brown rice, we’ve been known to refer to this dish as “Moros y Indios.”

FYI, the hunk of beef was perfect.
For those familiar with Maryland crab soup, here’s what we had that was super cheap, fast and easy.
Two cans of vegetarian vegetable soup (mixed with a little more water than called for). Half a package of the imitation crab stuff, sliced thinly. A coupla handfuls of tiny frozen shrimp. Generous amounts of Old Bay seasoning and a dollop of tabasco sauce.
Not the real thing, mind you, but very tasty and very inexpensive. Just right for a cold evening.
Made falafels with kale, stuffed in a toasted pita pocket with some quick stir-fried vegetables. Deliciously comforting! ![]()
While I was at work today, my husband went to visit his mother, and came back with a tuna noodle casserole. So that’s what we had for supper, with some leftover birthday cake for dessert.
Last night I christened my new wok by making my first ever stir fry.
It was basically a pad thai but with beef as my girlfriend dislikes prawns. I’ve got loads of ingredients left over though so I’ll do a proper one tonight I think. Tasted great.
