I’m making some gumbo. That’ll help clear the sinuses.
Excuses.
Green Chile Stew with Venison. The store had a good number of very fresh Anaheim peppers, I couldn’t resist. I bought all they had, 6lbs, and roasted them yesterday, picked the deer up from the side of the road. Serve with a cheddar and fresh roasted jalapeno pepper cornbread. Our maple out front has sinuses.
I made beef and barley soup last night, and am looking forward to doing a rerun tonight. I used my new pressure cooker, and shaved off about 1 1/2 hours in the cooking time without sacrificing the flavor - gotta love that!
It’s finally cold enough here in California to make stews and soups, after having a very warm summer and fall this year. Looking forward to more!

You may have had a warm summer in Santa Clara, but we froze our backsides off here in Santa Cruz! This is the second year in a row when we haven’t had a real summer at all!
I’m in rehearsals all afternoon today, so my lovely hubby is making his delicious Thai Fried Rice for our dinner.
In the soup vein, though, I did make a lovely split pea soup on Thursday.
Redwolf
Bluefin/lake herring* pan fried in light oil, steamed broccoli, and cooked quinoa with lemon and olive oil mixed as a dressing.
Should take about 15 minutes to make.
*Fresh water fish from lake superior, not related to herring but more like a trout.
I’m under a cold, so I had a tin a’ soup.
Some instant oatmeal.
I made hot-and-sour soup last night with fresh shiitakes. That cleaned out the sinuses. Orange pork chops tonignt – seared pork chops with onions, orange peel, with a sauce of orange juice, bouillon, and vinegar, all served over noodles.
