Tunes for whistle newbies - Blayne Chastain

Trip to Killavil a little breathless due to many attempts at getting a reasonable recording, and done for the sake of posterity :stuck_out_tongue:

For anyone interested in Blayne Chastain’s whistle, bodhran or flute beginner lessons clicky here ===> Blayne Chastain’s teaching website

you are back? thats good!
will listen later, just wanted to say welcome back!

I didn’t know you went any where?

Regardless, a very nice start to a lovely tune.
I really like Blaynes settings for this one, and thats how I play it.
Though not as well as you.
Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the welcome back Andreas

Thanks for commenting, yes Blayne has some very nice tuition for this tune; hopefully I’ll do it more justice in the future with additional practice

Welcome back JLeo! The Killavil is a great jig. After you are comfortable with what Blayne has given you, you should examine the setting June Ni Cormac has in her tutor for some nice spots to hide a breath. Then you might want to listen to a master, Patsy Hanley, blast through this jig http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwZ9dFUSDCs

Bob

Patsy Hanley really does a great job on this jig.

This is a great resource for a newb like me, thanks for the link Jleo!

Hi Bob,
thanks for the welcome back and the feedback. The June Ni Cormac info much appreciated as breathing is in my playing requires additional study. Patsy Hanley’s version is ideal for further study and thanks for the Ytube link.

Thanks for this Maki

Glad you found it useful good luck with your whistling
