I don’t have any funds for what I want but do have whistles to trade, other than just hoovers (though they would be my preference).
Does anyone have a spare digital recorder I could use at sessions or so I can email samples of my whistles?
I would apply my reputation as a very poor “hoss trader” very much to your advantage!
Email me if interested and also with suggestions as to what would be a good recorder for those uses if you are so inclined.

Hi Mack,
If you have a microphone of any kind that will connect to your computer, try downloading the free software Audacity. Works pretty well.
Or you could ask someone that has a good recording capability and plays whistle to do a sample for you.
However, if you’re looking to have other instruments in the recording, like in a seisiun, then you are going about it the right way.

It’s mainly for sessions and so I can sample whistles in the shop. I can already do it on the computer although rather poorly.
And price isn’t much of an issue as long as I can trade. My collection has some high end instruments I’m fond of but not beyond applying to a trade.

It would be my distinct pleasure to loan you–indefinitely–my little SONY ICD-ST20/ST10, which is a little hand held with built in mic–quite a sensitive mic at that. It runs on a couple AAA or AA Batteries, also takes external mic input and it is easy to download the recorded tunes from it. I have the software and an enlarged and bound version of the sys doc. I have since gotten a Hi MINI CD REcorder which I like a lot.
If, and only if, you like it for the purpose you indicate, we could discuss some of our typically mellow terms and conditions. I would, in fact, be pleased if you would use it for a while and report back to me on it.
