Ewwww, nothing. That’s a Charles Jeffries concertina, pre-1893 vintage by the looks of it. Jeffries was second to none among the vintage concertina makers (and most of the modern ones too).
In good working order, that Jeffries could be worth anywhere between a good UP 3/4 and full set. It’ll be interesting to see what it goes for.
It does have sixty reeds, though. Not for the faint of heart… ![]()
starting bid $40 on the 6th of Sept, now up to $2999. Wonder if the seller had anticipated that.
… very cool old box.
The fact that the seller’s description says “accordion,” the opening bid was $9.99 and that there is no reserve leads me to believe the seller is getting an unexpected payday.

The Willie Rowsome and Patsy Browne auction several years ago started out at $49; I don’t think that the auction mentioned ‘Irish’ or ‘uilleann’. That auction finished up at $3650. There was no discussion on the chiff board until the final day. The seller was very pleased as they had bought up an estate sale’s sellers stuff that had not been sold over the years.
Sold for $6,660, the price of a Gallagher full set. ![]()
And worth every penny
