The new C&F Irish Language forum

It’s there, quite near the Poststructural Pub, but at the moment it doesn’t seem to be accessible.

Irish, anybody?

It’s still being set up; should be available soon!

Testing. See if you can read/post now.

Where are the French, Spanish, German, and Japanese forums? Am I asking too much? :sunglasses:

We also need a forum where we can discuss the works of Shakespeare in the original Klingon.

If you can locate a Klingon opera which incorporates the pennywhistle, maybe it can happen…

Thanks Dale, I’ve successfully posted to the new forum, seems to be working fine!

Shakespeare was a Klingon? That’s the story of who really wrote the works of Shakespeare??

Yes, according to David Warner, who said, “You haven’t heard Shakespeare until you’ve heard it in the original Klingon.”

Not sure how Hamlet would work,
since Klingon has no infinitives.

Extra geek alert: I found it amusing
that the wikipedia entry about Klingon
mentions the Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis.

Irish has no infinitives either…I break out in hives when someone asks for “to be or not to be” (which does happen occasionally).

The worst, though, was when someone asked for “just say ‘no’”, as Irish doesn’t have words for “yes” and “no”!

I suppose you could tell them “just do not say”…

I think we finally came up with “just say ‘I won’t do it’” Not quite as punchy, but then, that’s Irish!
