That fine fellow, and musician, David Powers is selling this set and he posted here already on Nov. 30 and suggested that if interested to send him a private message.
Not Patsy Brown..
Why do you think not Patsy Brown and how could you guess from the pictures? I’d guess David had these looked at by people who would be considered experts and if they couldn’t tell by looking at them in person, I’m curious to know what tipped you off in the pictures..

This set of pipes are on Chris Bayley’s web site..I think they are Brennan.
Is it only me that thinks Taylor-style keywork looks clumsy and awful?

and here i thought i was the only one that thought that…

I thought that as well, but I got to touch and feel a Taylor chanter and the style grows on you ( at least for me). It has an Art Deco feel to it and the craftsmanship is superb. The only thing I’d ask for are slightly narrower regulator keys, but that’s me…
I just got this info. about the pipes from Mark Hillmann in Washington DC on ebay but I couldn’t post the question on the add because there is less than 12 hours left in the auction. I played the pipes over the phone to him today. The reserve is lower than the figure he mentions. He has a Taylor set and at least parts of pipes made by Hutton. A theory from one Taylor expert who finds the workmanship quality to be higher than other Taylor copy pipes is that the pipes might have been Taylor work-in-progress that was finished by someone else. Hutton would fit that bill. David.
“This set of pipes was not made by the Taylors, but possibly by a man named Hutton who worked for the Taylors (?) Hard to say for sure. The pipes sounded very fine over the phone amd I liked the sound of the chanter much more than my taylor chanter. Fine pipes such as this are getting harder to find, especially amidst all of the inferior stuff flooding the market these days. If I were making a set like this for someone, I would not hesitate to charge 5k or more. Would you consider disclosing your reserve?”
I believe the real ivory will limit you to purchasers in the US only. Too bad, as it looks a nice set.

Here is the set on Chris Bayley’s web page

That info. on Chris Bayleys site is not as definite as was first thought.

Winning bid $4000 (reserve met) and a very good deal, IMO.
I almost bid, they look so cool, but I’m not into D pipes anymore.
