A familiar stick to many observers here I would say.

That chanter is as nice a vintage D chanter as I’ve seen. Very, very playable.

I don’t recall that the top had been described as Cuban Mahogany in its previous auction. The ebony between tops and bodies are often different.

Shawn Folsom’s set is totally executed in Cuban Mahogany.

GONE! BUY-IT-NOW for $1500!!

It’s a copy of a Taylor alright. You can see this from the photos of the keywork, and the stop valve key. Also a Taylor popping valve has five rivets holding on the ivory decorative end piece not four. The flanges on the popping valve are too rough as well. I’ve never seen any Taylor replica/copy that has anywhere near the quality of metalwork or finish that you find on a genuine Taylor set of pipes, such as Michael Dooley’s beauty, Eoin O Riabhaighs or even Christy O’Leary’s Hanafin set, or the chanter I examined at Willie Week once. This said it can still be a fine sounding well made chanter?
