Summer Northern Calif Chiff Gathering

Okay, I haven’t mentioned my intentions to my mom yet :really:, but I’m sure she won’t mind. June is coming up on us and we need to settle on a date. You bozo’s who failed to show up at Dana’s recently have a chance to redeem yourselves. I imagine I’ll barbeque again.

Just so things are clear, this is in the San Francisco, California East Bay, about 8 miles north of Oakland just off Interstate 80. Go the the Clips site to see photos of two past events and decide if you want to associate with this kind of riffraff. (That would be MurphyStout and Limuhead, specifically.) There are also genteel, cultured individuals, as well. (That would be me.)
Tony

Hey, if she says “No”, we can do it at my place… :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Was my Rachmaninoff not cultured. :stuck_out_tongue: I’ll be there for sure, whenever, wherever.

-Mike

I’m sure I’ll be there, too, as usual.

Hey, Mike, are you coming over for the pipers’ club meeting on Sunday?

Justine

I’m gonna try my darndest. I’ll PM you for the info.

I can’t come between June 18-26. The Weekender entourage is taking an early summer sojourn in Brewster, MA (Cape Cod). Hmm, mebbe I will finally meet Feadan…

The weekend of the 18th is out for me, too. I’m doing my yearly whistle workshop for absolute beginners at the SF Free Folk Music Festival.
Tony

This riffraff is unavailable June 1-10. Sadly, he will be on a journey in Hawaii during that time with the lovely Mrs. Limuhead. He should be available for the remainder of the month.

Looking forward to meeting up with the genteel, cultured individuals. Maybe something will rub off.

No concrete plans yet, but I need to schedule around daughter #1’s High School graduation and birthday - the weekend of the 18th is probably a conflict. (As are the first two weekends in July).

I’ll make it if I can - even if it does increase Tony’s riff-raff quotient.

So, Limu, the 10th is a Friday. So far, no objections for the weekend of 11th, 12th. Otherwise, early July, but more people are gone on vacation then. Are there any strong preferences for a Sat or a Sun? I just figure if you’re going to be up late, a Sat is better. Better chime in now…

Also, If anyone wants to come a little earlier for a technique workshop, we could go over some stuff.
Tony

A technique workshop would be great. Saturday sounds fine, those seem to work better than Sundays (work the next day, church, etc.) as you put. Cool, can’t wait.

-Mike

The 11th works for me!

Hey Mike, I’ll bring a duet book we can read out of…

The 11th should work for me as well, provided I can beg a ride of someone again… maybe I can balance out the riff-raff quotient somewhat :stuck_out_tongue:

Assuming things don’t change (I always keep my fingers crossed about scheduling) we can ride up together - if you haven’t moved, you’re pretty much on the way for me.

Then, I’ll notify (ask permission of) my mom for the 11th of June. We don’t want to be double booked with a Black Sabbath or something. (Though, we could barbeque the goat after it’s sacrificed…)
Tony
(Just kidding about the goat.)

We could sacrifice some whistles.

See you on the 11th,

Justine

Good for the 11th.

I’ve been thinking a bit lately. (Danger, Will Robinson!) One thing was about making frozen daqueries (however you spell it). Another was about the menu. I had been thinking about barbequeing. My wife suggested I barbeque burgers and we plan on people bringing various salads. (She won’t be available to help me this time.) I don’t know vegetarian menus beyond salad…Lastly, doing a whistle workshop, I’d want to start that before the gathering, say around noon. Comments??
Tony

We could sacrifice some whistles. wink

A bodhran would be more appropriate.

We should be in our new place by June as well!

I even think it is closer than Mike’s place. At 1.6 acres there is plenty of room for tents and even a couple of RV’s!!!

HEY!!! Bodhrans are cool! I think your accordian would be more appropriate!

The 11th sounds good for me. And I’ll try to make the workshop - as you all know, I need all the help I can get. :smiling_imp:

If you got da burgers, I can manage a salad of some kind. And try to scare up a new dark beer variety to sample.

I’m sure Redwolf can make more knowlegeable suggestions (I eat everything - and too much of it), but besides veggie burgers, Portobello mushroom caps and/or eggplant cutlets work pretty well on the grill (brush with olive oil, garlic, and herbs to taste).
