Overton Hi-D Session (tunable). This is an exceptional Overton High D, made and signed by Colin Goldie and dated May 2007. Beautifully balanced and in tune through the octaves. If you like back pressure, this one will make you very happy; plus you can lean hard into this one and not break any windows; and plenty of volume for sessions. Hate to sell it; just had it three weeks; but, I have to pay for a flute that’s almost ready for delivery. Comes with a cordura nylon carry case. Perfect, new condition. IM me if you are interested and provide email address if you would like photos. Thank you, Cyril.
Could you send me pictures and price?
Sold pending funds. Thanks.
ok thanks. I’m going to look further. Overton has it for me. The sound and people like Brian Finnigan playing on it makes the adrenalin go fast.
I bought mine after seeing Brian Finnigan play his on the madfortrad instructional DVD. He makes it look really easy doesn’t he?
He probably got to choose his from at least 10 other sop whistles when he got his. They vary a little on playing charactoristics and tone. Just drop in and see Colin when he has a new batch ready and pick yours!

Yeah, Colin invited me after my request on this site for soundsamples. I live an hour and a half drive from Colin and Brigitte. He wanted me to try out 40 of the whistles he traded with his. That means I could hold the Overton, Burke, O’Riordan, Weasl, Busman, etc. etc. Fantastic to see them all together lying nicely put on a table by the master of whistlemakers himself. A contrast by the way with his personality and his way of working. He’s a very very friendly somewhat timid guy with a small shed in his garden where he makes his whistles. We also played a little together. His standard is so much higher but still it was fun to do. In the future I’m gonna buy an Overton when I can afford one.
That is great that you live so close to Colin. I have talked to them over the phone and they are just as you described!
I am surprised that you didn’t walk away with at least one of his whistles.
How is his flute making coming along? Brigette told me a few years ago that he bought a lathe and a supply of wood to get started.
Nate
I felt a bit guilty not having bought one of his whistles. I didn’t have the money back then. Indeed he had been experimenting with wood and with flutes. I’m a whistle-maniac, so I don’t care much about flutes (glad, 'cause they are 10 times the price). I’m very curious about a wooden Overton. He did have one that looked like wood but was in fact alloy. I was tipped by Birgitte that there was a Scottish Weekend in Belgium where they also would be. Flook would be playing, and as you know they are friends. I’ve been there to see Flook. Colin was backstage and Birgitte was too small in the crowd as I couldn’t find her. I most certainly will visit them once when I get a whistle from Colin.
Yes, they seem lovely people.
