Does anyone own or has anyone played an Overton Low D short reach? I’m trying to find out if the only difference is in the finger hole placing or if the sound is effected as well.

I agree. In search of a whistle he invited me to his home in Germany, where I spent half a day trying 40 different whistles, listening to his stories, and see him work on my Overton Low D in his shed. Amazingly nice guy!
Hi - I’m a newbie, especially to low whistles. I just ordered a short reach Overton from Big Whistle, in the UK. I’m not sure there is a huge difference overall - the main difference is between the last 2 holes. I’m hoping its manageable. Did you decide? J
For me personally the price is still too high. And I don’t play a lot outdoor. So for the moment I have no high D Overton, but I bought a second-hand low D Overton from someone in Holland. It’s an amazing instrument. Colin Goldie worked a bit on it and made it better for me.
You think that’s good? When I wanted my A Overton, Colin sent me two roundtrip airline tickets from Albany to Germany, housed me and my wife for a week and took us to Ocktoberfest!
Just kidding, but he really is a great guy. What he DID do was call me several times from Germany to discuss my whistle, which he played transatlantically over the phone before shipping it. We also had some great conversation about whistlemaking and life in general. Like I said, a great fellow.

By the way, your whistles are a lust for ear and eye as well. I love the wood ones more and more.
