Sam Murray

Hi:
Do you know if Sam Murray is still making flutes?
I heard that he discontinued the flute production.
Regards.

Sam Murray is retired now. But question is does his son or Sean Murray continue with his work … ?

…Retired??

… and here we go again.

Smoro, I would recommend doing a forum search for “Sam Murray” and read up on some of the topics posted, such as the “Missing Sam Murray” thread, and a few others. A significant number of people have claimed that they have sent him money and not received their flutes, or sent him their flutes and never saw them again or heard from him again. The only reason I am mentioning this is so you are aware that there could be a potential risk in dealing with him, if that is indeed what you had planned to do.

I have a Murray flute and not planning getting another one. I am aware about all that problems you mention regarding people sending money to Sam and not getting back their flutes or money, but it has been in that way for years.
I am not asking about that.
Is he oficially retired? Out of the bussines? It’s what I am asking.
S.

All sources seem to indicate that he is at least semi-retired, but his son Sean has taken over part of the business for repairs and modifications. If you need new parts or repairs or something, you can probably still get in touch with him and get it sorted. I don’t think they’re doing new flutes right now (never hurts to ask).
