For the newbies who ask a lot of questions. . .and us old hands who have forgotten. . .
Please make your subject line say something about the body of the message. If there are eight messages with the subject line of ‘Stupid Question’ or ‘Another Question’ or ‘Newbie Question’ it makes it very hard to know if you’re following the discussion or have lost interest in it.
No one here really minds beginners questions, even if they’ve been repeated a hundred times. We enjoy helping and answering and debating. But it is courteous to state the gist of your message in the subject line.
I was thinking just the same thing re the subject lines.
But, I suspect that people are to some extent protecting themselves from the sometimes high-handed sounding…“oh if you just try a search you’ll come up with a zillion hits on this”.
Tell me about it. I have tried the search function. I usually get a LOT of hits. tough going through those old 4, 5, 55 page posts for that ONE reference only to find it does not apply. THAT is a bummer.
Yeah, the search feature never worked all that well, but since the Board came back up after that last crash, the search feature is almost useless. When I resurrected the “Tinwhistler’s Day Jobs” thread, it took me forever because the search engine kept saying there was no such thing.
