In response to a now-departed Chiffster, I attempted to resurrect a classic thread. However, the search feature yielded about 4,000 results, whether I used quotation marks, etc. etc. I tried it over and over again and never got less than the aforementioned figure. To this day, I have never been able to use the search feature without getting such a bounty of results.
What is the @#$in’ deal with the Search Feature and why won’t it identify one title of one thread?
Okay, I hate to give up the suspense, but I was trying to bring back Franken..l mean… the “It’s Always You” thread…
I remember the subsequent running gag but I don’t think I ever saw the real thread…do you remember any more details that might be able to pin it down? A particular funny comment or unusual name-calling?
I’ve just scanned through the oldest ten pages of search results (narrowing to the whistle forum but still a huge hit result), looking for incredibly large threads, but I don’t think I found what you’re looking for.
When searching for multiple strings on this board make sure to insert the word and in between each string. This is different than searching on, say, Google.
The problem with doing this with the built-in search is that it will look for
any topic which has posts containing “its”, “always”, and “you”, which are all
common words. I had hoped the new google search at the top of the search
page would help, but it is not working at the moment (someone appears to
be getting a dDOS attack or something). I had to go to Google itself and type
in this line: chiff fipple “its always you”
it didn’t help that the original poster misspelled “it’s”, either.
I also don’t like the difficulty of the “search” feature on C&F, especially in regards to trying to find whistle or ITM threads–there are so many results that it becomes impossible. That’s why we need to delete older threads, and create a whistle FAQ (no, I don’t think I’ll ever stop campaigning for the idea, haha).
