Recordings of old style Irish fifing?

Are there any? Can ya point me to a CD or LP? From either side of the political divide. Perhaps some older recordings? I’m curious to hear some of this stuff, old fluters were apparently often also involved in fife and drum stuff. What sort of music did/do they play, also?

There is a very informative book that focuses on fifing and lambeg drumming called “With Fife and Drum, Music, memories, and customs of an Irish Tradition”. By Gery Hastings, Blackstaff Press, Belfast, 2003, ISBN 0-85640-709-7. The book includes 72 fifing tunes in sheet music form along with a CD of tunes and interviews. Both the tunes and traditions in this book are mostly associated with the Orange Order, and to a lesser degreethe Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Hope that helps some,
Rob

Also anything you can get in relation to John Campbell from Toombridge direction in Northern Ireland (co. Antrim). He has a great store of tunes and although he is a whistleplayer his background is the Fifing tradition.
If you look up any sites that are in relation to Len Graham the singer you should come upon him.
Hope that helps.
