I’m looking (begging) for someone to send me a copy of Paddy Carty’s recording with Conor Tully. I’d like to surprise the flautist with whom I am now lucky enough to be playing. I have a couple of out-of-circulation Topic concertina recordings, and lots of obscure American (Old Time) fiddle stuff to reciprocate with if thats of interest. Sorry, no flute stuff.
I’m also looking for a copy of it since a couple of years ago, I wll be glad to let you check my Folk Cds List
to let you choose some cds for a GooD excange! ; )
Paddy Carty with Mick O’Connor It’s a lovely album,
But the Paddy’s cd with Conor Tully it’s never been reiussed on cd
so you must have a copy from the original vynil.
Hmmm, what instrument does Conner Tully play? I have about 12 tracks of Paddy Carty playing in a session with a Bodhran player but I’m not sure if that’s what you’re after.
'Tis.
I thank my source profusely for that 'un.
Before the tape arrived I’d gotten ahold of a session CD of Paddy, Conor, and Frank, which is the only session music I’ve ever listened to much, maybe because it’s not really a session.
Paddy was just a genius - the use of the keys is the first thing you notice, he could play Galway Bay or the Beeswing in Bb without any effort. Or Ed Reavy/Paddy Fahy tunes. Since my friends are always starting into these he’s a real inspiration.
There are several tracks not from the commercial tape in circulation, I have several tracks on various tapes. There is overall a fair amount of Carty material in circulation, I have again several tapes of himself and Paddy Fahey which at times is very enjoyable.
I’ve never liked the way the “Traditional Music of Ireland” CD sounded; ended up selling my copy. I’m not sure what it is, but i think the flute was mixed so hot that it distorts all the time.
