At $100, the reserve is not met. Why am I not surprised?

Well, I didn’t meet the reserve, but maybe no-one else will bid & I’ll get em fer $150.00!!!

BWAHAHAHAHA

:-p

Is this THE Quinn?

Don’t like what the seller says about the tenor drone.

Anyone know who the seller is?

i do not know this seller either and would love to have someone tell us. under “view this seller’s other items”, well , nothing i have even heard of.

meir

It certainly looks like a set by David Quinn so I don’t think there should be any hesitation there; it would not hurt to check with David on this issue. Likewise for the tenor drone ‘wrapped-up’, that should not be a big deal.

Don’t know what the Reserve is but looks like a winner!

Judging from its appearance only…I’d say this set is of the same vintage as is the DM Quinn D set played by Benedict Koehler…or at least was crafted within 3 years or so of the BK set. I wouldn’t let the one drone reed issue bother you as drones constructed very well can be reeded rather easily.

I have known the seller as a personal friend for many years. You will not find a more honest guy and he is, in my mind, overly cautious with his wording on the set.

On the tenor drone, he just means he does not like the sound of tenor drones period, so he has the reed strapped shut with thread. It is not that the tenor drone sounds differently than any other tenor drone.

Yes, this is David Quinn, THE David Quinn that we all know and love.

The seller is selling for a variety of personal reasons, none of them having to do with dissatisfaction with this set.

I must say that I have not played this set since days before I had a set of my own, so I can not speak to its condition, but it is an untampered with David Quinn set and should AT MOST require a little tweak by the new owner.

Heck, I might bid on it myself. So why am I telling you these things! D’oh!!!

Bidding is at $1,200US, reserve has been met and 5 days still left in the auction.

On eBAY, the O’Riordan Whistle set (9 whistles) is beating the Quinn half set - $1425 to $1200. Kind of kills the ‘pipes are expensive’ argument.
3 days to go!

It ain’t over till the fat lady sings. The Quinn set will probably get sniped at 2-3K, maybe more. If I was into D sets, I know I’d bid that much.

Lorenzo’s right. If there’s any action on this set, it’ll all be in the last few hours of the auction.

Just think, you could get this K&Q half set and then add these regulators to it!

 alright.

Sort of like buying a top of the line motorcycle and putting bicycle tires on it.

You know, there is an especially horrid place set aside in HELL reserved for people who make suggestions like that…

O’Riordan Whistles $2,178; Quinn half set $1,226 (2 days to go).

… oh the shame, the SHAME!

I wish I had the money, but since I’m taking the vows this July it won’t be possible to bid in on this set, otherwise I might have been walking down the aisle with the pipes instead of the fiancee.. :astonished:

P.S> Joseph, nice lookin set is that one yours?

The one in my current avatar is mine, (I assume that is what you meant). It looks cool from a distance, then you get closer to see the drones are Pakistani. Although, they aren’t butt ugly and they do have a great solid tone to them.

Thanks.

The little guy drinkin till he falls, is cool too!
