Please, please don’t let this just be because I’m a computer idiot!
When I come into C&F I can only see that I have private messages if I actually log in. However, if I am logged in, I can’t reply to posts. I get my reply typed in and press “submit” and get a message that says “use your password.” But there’s no place to type in my password because it’s remembering me since I logged in. Even if I leave the C&F site and come back to it, I find I’m still logged in and it won’t allow me post a reply. (Clicking on “logout” doesn’t appear to do anything.) I have to leave the internet entirely and then come back in to be able to post a reply.
Is this actually the way it works?
Anybody else have this problem?
Susan
No, that isn’t what it’s supposed to do. I don’t know why it’s doing that for you…I don’t have a problem replying, logged in or not. Maybe someone else knows what’s going on?
I have the “use your password” problem, too. I think it’s because the BBS is not keeping session variables correctly, or isn’t looking them up when it should. I find that if I just hit the “Back” button and retry a few times, (sometimes up to 10!), it will eventually work. Get stubborn, end of problem!

Susan I can take a look next week if you like.
Try this - and I’m doing it right now so I know it works. Instead of logging in when you first come in, just scan like you were any visitor. If you see one you want to reply to, hit reply or quote (in a message). On the ensuing screen, you’ll be asked at the top for name and pw. That’ll solve your submit problem and also should allow you to resond normally to other threads. At that point you’ll also be logged on and should be able to see your privates. At least I think it will - I can’t tell because I never get any.
If you’re in and having problems, don’t just leave and come back. Manually log out first, then leave. Then you should be able to log in when you return.
For some reason, the quote function doesn’t work for me… It’s probably my old dino of a computer though… lol

You can’t quote?? That’s a shame.
You’re telling me!
I’ve had that problem with the password once—yesterday I think. I mucked about a bit and just before giving up the password display cam up and I proceded as usual. I’ve no idea what I did to solve the problem; I was replying to a friend whose email address I have so I just copied the message in case I had to send it that way.
