I'm a bit confused

I just tried to post a reply to a thread, but my reply didn’t show up. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

Is there a resource page we can visit to find out what all the buttons and such are for?

There’s a whole user manual available here</a](http://www.phpbb.com/guide/phpBB_Users_Guide.html">here</a)>, but “reply to a thread” ought to work just as it did before – you click

and it brings you to a panel that lets you enter the reply.

Is that what you did when you tried to reply? What message did you get when
you hit “submit”?

(Or did you perhaps press “preview” but never “submit”?)

There’s sure to be some bugs to work out in the new version, but I see other people replying, so I’m not sure what happened.

I was fairly sure I hit submit, but it’s possible I ‘missed.’ I didn’t have Javascript enabled, and it’s kind of hard to see how things line up without it.

Hrm, what browser are you using? I’ve got Javascript disabled as well and things look the same, although the bbcode buttons don’t do anything.

Netscape (rev. 4.79, I think). We usually run with Javascript disabled (which is one reason we haven’t upgraded recently…looks like the newest rev doesn’t give you the option to turn Javascript off).

It really does look quite different. With Javascript off, it’s something of a jumble (things line up, but aren’t delineated well)…with it on its very crisp and attractive. Odd that it would make such a difference.

No big. I’ll just have to get in the habit of turning it on. Sure looks like this format has a lot of nifty features!

Ah, that might explain it. I don’t have a Netscape earlier than 6 here (well, Mozilla 1.something, which is the same thing.)

You should be able to disable Javascript in the latest Netscapes, since I can do it in the latest Mozillas. Netscape 4.x is really quite old at this point, too – I can’t guarantee that everything will continue working in it, although I ran through the basics in NS 4.8 on my Mac and it seemed OK.

Yeah, I think we’re going to be forced to use the newest Netscape here soon…I’m already running into sites that don’t work at all with older revs. We do have it (our daughter prefers it, because she likes the color options), but if there’s a way to disable Javascript on it, we haven’t found it yet (it doesn’t appear to work to do “Edit/Preferences/Advanced” anymore). I may try fiddling around with it next week…see if they’re hiding it in some obvious spot. Unfortunately, the other site where we spend a lot of time (VegSource) runs Javascript ads that crash the system, and Hotboards (where I have my forum), has non-stop pop-ups, which is why we usually run with it disabled.

Thanks for all your work on this forum…it looks very nice, now I’m viewing it properly!
