Do you login just to read messages ?

I use a desktop shortcut to access the C&F message board. I scan messages and reply to messages by entering my name and passcode. Other member boards require you to ‘login’ first to reply to messages.
I learned today private messages can be sent on this system without needing your e-mail address. You will be notified you have messages (or message) when you login.
How many of you don’t normally login to access the board??

and… how do you logoff the system ?

If you enter your password to post a message, you are in essence logging in. Once you post the message, and as long as you don’t close your browser, subsequent visits are ‘logged in’ visits, hence you will get private message notifications.

As I post something pretty much every time I visit the board, the problem is solved for me.

Once you are logged in, you will see a ‘log out’ link at the top of the board page.

Raymond… the ‘stars and moon’ suddenly came into alignment !!
I keep cookies turned off unless I access a website that notifies me it’s needed to visit their website. Trying to login without cookies on blocks the login action. I was still able to get access to the board so I never investigated further. Sheesh… for those of you who sent me messages, I’m S-O-R-R-Y… I’ll get right back to you…

I just answered my own question regarding logout procedure… duh!

I just hope these are low calorie cookies.

In my browser configuration, I threw caution to the wind and checked the ‘Enable Chips Ahoy’ box. Damn the lipids, full speed ahead!

I never even paid attention to the private message thingy. I tried it today after reading this thread. It worked fine since I have cookies enabled. However, my private message I sent to myself was forwarded by Dale to the Crystal People now they keep flying over my house.

Cody… looks like it’s time to build another bomb shelter. Get your shovels !

Man, do I feel silly! I logged in just to read THIS message! I keep cookies enabled (just like my stomach does) on my computer, however, I use a program to dump all the cookies I haven’t protected at the end of every surfing session.

Scott, sorry I ruined your afternoon

Tony, didn’t mean to offend you. I was just being funny, I thought. Sorry about that. Actually, I do log in each time, in case I see something I want to post or reply to. But, for quite some time I just kind of watched messages without logging in. My sincere apologies if my post was taken in the wrong way, I mean no offense. I’m not a controversial guy.

No problem Scott.
I didn’t want the title too long.
Tell me about the program to remove cookies and how you protect cookies (didn’t realize we had options) I generally keep cookies turned off. I can’t see the need for any website needing cookies to persist on a computer for more than a few months as things on the internet change rather quickly…

The program I use is called Window Washer. It’s available at http://www.webroot.com. I use some cookies to keep settings like the local weather for my homepage, this message board and a couple sites my wife uses. The pages are refreshed as new each time I visit, but the custom features of each page don’t need to be reset. Hope this helps.

I usually Log in…When I can remember my password.
