Public Apology to LarryM and Davy Stephenson

On FRIDAY 13th December on this forum I caused a furore with my attack on LarryM(Dr Larry Manderson).
My intention was to point out the apparent dual standard of his posting ref:pipemakers reputations and livelihoods,and my response was ill thought out,charged as it was with emotive and rude language and a lot of anger.

The pipemaker in question is a personal friend of mine,much the same as Davy Stephenson is a personal friend of Dr Manderson.

Notwithstanding I now realize that my comments have gravely offended both Larry M and Davy Stephenson.

With regard to Davy Stephenson I have caused a pipemaker who has provided valuable information to leave the forum,that was never my intention and I again stress the point, that I have never seen his work,other than on his website,and am in no position to comment,let alone denigrate him.
There are many people on the forum who have his sets and are extremely pleased with them.That is reccomendation enough.

To Davy I apologise and will make no comments that may be construed as damaging to him in the future.

To Dr Manderson it was helpful to re -read his version of events back in August,and I make full apology for the hurt I have caused and I hope I have not damaged his reputation as a piper or a Doctor.

I do not have LarryM 's EMail address and I have deleted my EMail simply because I do not wish to receive a virus which sadly happened before on this forum.
To save him needles time trying to trace me I will send him my details via Davy Stephenson.

I would ask both LarryM and Davy Stephenson not to judge the forum by my outbursts and please rejoin as they would be missed.

The same applies to Zukul whom I sent a private message to.

To Dale Wisely I am truly sorry for embroiling you in this mess at this time of the year when you must have more important things to do.

To everyone on the forum I am truly truly sorry for all the upset this has caused.

Many thanks for your apology graciously offered and graciously accepted by myself.

I did give my account of my dealings with your friend on the basis that, if you want a set of this makers pipes do not be surprised if you have to wait a long time for a reply, as was my experience.

I am sure that his pipes are also excellent and I think you would agree Uilliam my post did not indicate anything about the quality of the pipes which he makes.

Uilliam as far as I am concerned the matter is now finished. All I want to do through Uilleann Pipes is to make friends with people who have a similar interest.

You and I probably know Uilliam, just like Boyd from our origins that there is enough senseless fighting and unhappiness going on in the world without people on this board falling out!

Anyhow hope someday we meet and can shake hands in friendship over a pint or two, I dont hold grudges, just too many things in life to be getting on with.

Please pass along my best wishes to you and your family for a very happy Christmas from mine.

LarryM I thank you for that.Just for the record the guy you spoke to wasn’t Jim at all but his Son who at the time wasn’t speaking to his dad!!(he is now)Poor old Jim knew nothing of this and still doesn’t.Ignorence is bliss sometimes.

Liam if Jim finds out that Owen lost him an order for a full set of pipes, I think they will stop talking again!!

Well done, Uilliam, I haven’t noted the timing of your recent posts and apparently missed some hot and heavy stuff over the last two days. Your apology is courageous and dignified and I trust that it means that you haven’t left C&F for good.

The Australian court’s ruling of a couple of days ago must leave anyone in Dale and Rich’s position wondering if it’s even worth while going on with something like this forum, but at the very least it is another reason to moderate our comments about other people, and remember that the US constitution’s First Amendment is not a worldwide legal standard.
