It does that to me, too. And actually–I think it might be a problem that happened with the renovation that recently took place. Somebody should tell Rich.
It’s been happening from time to time for years.
Sometimes somebody sends a message but has second thoughts immediately and deletes it. This wouldn’t account for all the occasions on which expected messages go missing I think.
Like Wombat said, someone can go back and delete their message after you’ve been notified of a PM. I’m not sure if it sends another notification if someone edits their PM, but I doubt it. Just turn off the email notification in your profile update.
I got two pms with notifications yesterday so maybe it’s some sort of notification hiccup if such things exist
Slan,
D.
When in doubt I just start a thread asking if somebody has been trying to PM me. I think this thread will do the job nicely if that’s what’s been happening with you.
That’s the plan but no takers so far…
By way of idle curiousity what time is it in Oz?
Slan,
D.
Well, I’m sure no one else could be this dopey, but I forget to close the notification window and then go read my message and then I come across the window again way later and think I have another new message. I guess if I managed to figure this out you would already have considered this possibility.
And the same happens with my email notifications.
That’s a very.. eh.. novel way of looking at the problem Cynth. I can see how that could happen…eh..in theory..so to speak but I can safely say that it is not a valid answer to my particular situation…eh..thanks anyway ![]()

12.43 am as I type which is a bit later than when you asked. I’m avoiding marking right now. I’ll be back in another half hour or so avoiding marking again. ![]()
I thought you were up late alright. I think I have everbodys timezone sussed out now.
Sometimes I think is it me or them that’s tired… ![]()

I heard that very loud DUH! while you were typing that, dub. ![]()
By the way, I recently finished Borstal Boy and I’ll be reading the plays soon. I thought it was really a wonderful book. It was actually pretty inspiring to see how tolerant he was of others, people that I would have thought a person would automatically be against he seemed to be willing to wait and see what they were like. The worst thing for me was the priest in the first prison, who went on and on about food right in front of the bread and water prisoners.
Please accept herewith the nomination for the most astonishing non-sequitur I’ve read in any thread on C&F. ![]()
to continue todays non-sequitur… ![]()
Behan was very much of the belief that the working classes should unite against those that would keep them overworked and underpaid. He believed that those imprisoned with him had a common foe and that there would not be a lot of point in fighting amongst themselves. Then of course there was the problem of being an Irish political prisoner in an English jail, albeit a boys prison farm.
That’s where his Dublin charm came in very handy ![]()

Oh, there are so many people I must thank! My mother, my father, my teachers, my professors. OH,…it’s just a nomination. Rats! ![]()
You know, I didn’t really get why my post was so
. Now I realize that I was writing in public about some reading dub had recommended some time ago, and that no one else in the thread would know that. It was like a private message but it was public. I realize I am only making matters worse. But now it seems insanely hilarious to me.
Non Sequitur is one of my favorite comic strips. I especially like Obvious Man.
So, D, did you get the PM I sent you?
I did indeed, the mystery developed after that.
Slan,
D.
Hey, it wasn’t me!!!
