Note to all: As she pointed out in another thread, Grannymouse is having trouble with her e-mail, and this is probably the only way we will be able to set up a date to play whistles together. I hope this is considered acceptable use of the message board!
I got your first e-mail, Grannymouse, and wrote back to you Saturday morning. When I didn’t hear back from you I thought you must be having e-mail trouble. I tried again Sunday evening, but I don’t expect that made it either.
It happens I got to the parking lot a little after you left, but that’s just how things happen sometimes. Rats. I’m sorry I missed you.
Earlier you mentioned the possibility of another weekend; is it still open? We really do need to introduce our new whistles to each other.
I’m NOT writting because I have a problem with your message, but I thought that I would call your attention to the ‘Private Messages’ link up above. I’ve used it a couple of times and it seems to work nicely. (Not that your message had anything all that private in it).
Thanks for the pointer, Erik; I hadn’t seen the link. In my browser ( Netscape under unix ), those links are all in a cluster of tiny type and are hard to read, so I hadn’t noticed much past “FAQ” and “Login”. Upon reflection, though, I needed to make at least the first post public so that Grannymouse would have a chance to see it. If she wants to go private, then we can do so with subsequent posts.
Who knows! We may find some other whistlers hereabouts to play with if we stay public!
I just read the first message from you to come in since early Saturday. The timestamp was 11:07.
If you come tomorrow at noon, then parking on campus will be a big problem for you unless you have a permit, and I expect you’ll therefore probably be on foot. If that’s the case, we can meet in the little park on the lagoon side of Davis Hall. It’s about 100 yds. west of the now-drained lagoon. Davis is the one I live in – where we played before – with the silver observatory dome on the top. The little park has five fountains in it, benches, tables, and even some shade trees on the south edge. It’s very pleasant.
Best regards,
Neil Dickey
