Got another one for you!

I don’t know how I get myself into these things but I did it again! In my search for the St. Patrick’s Day music…I logged on to Contemplator…than Taylor Tunebooks..to the Irish one. OK…“Irish Tunebook” download now…or words to that effect. Now who could resist that? When it was all said and done..I wound up with a big yellow and blue FZ on my desktop…so I right click on this and click on the “unzip” and up pops 49
little icons all over my desk top! Actually for every song there are 2 icons…one is the AOL symbol and the other a little page w/musical notes. When you click on the musical notes…you get the music…when you click on the AOL…you get the printed lyrics and the music. It is really quite wonderful but also makes me dizzy to look at all of them. Abbreviated titles are under each icon. I can see 49 of them and the titles go up thru D…I don’t know where E thru Z are…I would like to know how to put the 49 back in a file and bring out some more…does any of this make any sense???
And while I’m at it..there’s a wonderful ballad called Bonnie Woodgreen. Is anyone familiar with it and know where I can find a score for it? Dumb and dumber here.Gm

Love one another…

When you unzip a file, the contents stay inside the file and are only copied to the outside, so you ought to be able to delete the items on your desktop as long as you still have the original file. You will want to make a new folder somewhere, on your desktop if you like, and put the zip file into it, and then click unzip.

I’m wondering if the 49 icons that show on your screen and represent part of the alphabet are just the ones that could fit on your screen. I have had instances where I accidently moved an icon OFF the screen; there is uncharted desktop territory that you can’t see. So if someday you are messing with icons and all of a sudden you get a bunch of new music icons, these are probably the leftovers from that zip file.

If you want more help, feel free to email me. You can email me the file too and I can look at it.

Bonnie woodgreen was recorded by singer David Hammond in cooperation with Donal Lunny on ‘The Singer’s House’. Should be ey enough to learn it from there(??), I haven’t any printed sources for you.

Thanks Peter ~ I’m playing the tune along with one of those little icons on the desktop. LOL… can almost play it by heart. I was thinking of music for the rest of the “group” to go by.

Gm

Fair enough. I probably assume a bit too easily that once you have the words and the melody the rest will follow. Still worth to check out the Hammond/Lunny recording of it the whole approach throughout the recording is very sensitive to the mood of the songs.

An easy way to manage all those midi tunes is to put them into a notation software program. I use Noteworthy Composer. You can download it here: http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10054-100-6560933.html

The advantage to having Noteworthy is now all those midi files will load up in sheet music form, printable, and play-along-able.

Just save or unzip midi files or collections into the Samples folder in Noteworthy. Warning: you’ll start collecting tunes and overload your computer

I think I am losing my mind here…big time (I know..so what else is new). I downloaded the Noteworthy thingy and now I don’t have a clue where to locate it or how to get these files into it. Sorry I’m so technically challenged. And to add to my confusion…Teri K…weren’t you in TN or have you always been in Seattle WA???

I’ve been in Seattle for a few years, but orig. from upstate NY. You can email me directly and I’d be happy to talk you through the techy stuff.

Teri

O.k. - now there’s more confusion. You might be thinking of Jessie K. She’s in TN and also from upstate NY.

Thanks a bunch Teri ~ I got your email so I’m about ready to tackle this project I can always count on this board to come through…no matter how wacky I get. I’ll let you know how this turns out.

And Jessie…if you’re out there…tell me you have a good friend Teri that lives in Nashville. I’ve bought whistles from her and I sent her a book. You may just save my sanity. Gm
