Pat Sky Uilleann Pipes and Reeds

I have a full C# set made by Rogge(Coyne clone) and have been very happy with them. Over the last year I had a lot of health problems and felt myself somewhat weaken. I wanted an expert like Pat Sky to look them over and see if there were anything that I was not able to see, perhaps make some new reeds where he thought they were needs.

I also had a B chanter from another pipe maker and thought I would ask Pat to reed it also. I could play the chanter but consider my hands small for a B chanter

I drove up to Pats and Cathy’s home in Spruce Pine NC not too far from where I live in SC this past Monday May 9 2011 to collect the pipes.

Pat had re reed the set, found a few small leaks and tweaked the set to where it plays much better than ever. The C# set was balanced between the chanter, drones and regs beautifully. I though it was remarkable. It really had that Coyne sound.

I have heard many people talk about how they liked Pat’s reeds. I sat there in Pat’s living room and played the B chanter better than I ever had before. I looked at the chanter wondering if Pat had moved the tone holes closer together, knowing that he had not. It was the reed! It played so well it made a big difference.

Pat did an outstanding job working on my pipes.
