Paddy Keenan in London Ontario

Paddy Keenan is coming to Southwestern Ontario!

He will be playing on October 12. See here for details:

Good news is that a Master Class is in the works  - providing that we get enough response. If anyone in the region (say Detroit thru to Toronto) is interested the tentative date for the class would be Wed Oct 11th. The price would be $50.00 per person.

Please contact me ASAP if you (or anyone you know who can make it) is interested.

Paul Gribbon

P.S. - I believe John Walsh will also offer an accompanyment class - again if there are enough people interested.

It seems so far only a couple of people can make it to London (Ontario) for the Wednesday night classes. We will need a few more people to make a go of things so…

…Just a reminder that if you, or anyone you know, might be interested in a pipe class with Paddy OR an accompaniment class with John Walsh please contact me as soon as possible. It’s a great opportunity for players in this area!

Paul

You know you’re WAAAAAYYYYYY out in the boonies when you can’t even get enough people together for a class with Paddy K.

P.P.S. Sorry for the short notice on the final details.

How’d it go Paul?

Paddy was in Toronto on Tuesday night. It was a pleasure to talk with him before the show - the man tells a great story! The concert was lots of fun - pipes were acting up a bit, but the fingers were in fine shape.

Hello yourself Paul,

Things went very well indeed thank you. Paddy and John are a pleasure to have around. Even with the small number of pipers in the area for the workshop the help that was given was invaluable.

I got to see how he does one or two of those magic sounding ornaments that I find so mesmerizing. Also, and perhaps more importantly he stressed to me not so much what to practise but HOW to practise. Sometimes it’s just a matter of the right information when you are ready to hear it. Now back to the drawing board.

We were worried about the concert because of the flash snowstorm that hit us yesterday. Fortunately more numbers than expected showed up so all was well. Paddy sold out of CDs in Toronto however…must have been a great show at Hugh’s Room, eh?

I can only say the show was great. I liked both John Walsh’s accompanyment and singing. Wonderful stuff. As far as Paddy’s performance I was watching in awstruck wonder trying to take in as much as possible. Great tunes. Great laughs. Great fun.
