Paddy Keenan

Anyone else here from the SF bay area goin to see him tonight? I’ve been waiting for months, I can’t wait!

I saw him a coupe of weeks ago at NTIF, I got the hole thing on VHS . It came out suprisingly well for a camcorder… One of Paddys regs fell out of the stock while he was playing and he put it back in with one hand and never stoped playing…

Wow! That’s amazing, I hope it doesn’t happen to him tonight, but still! Wow. Skil man, skill. I expect no less from Paddy.

I saw him at the Newcastle upon Tyne Irish Festival last october.
His version of ‘The Harvest Home’ was so tight that the notes were popping out like bullets.extraordinary.
You are in for a treat.

Going to see him at the Plough & Stars on Friday…You’ll have to let me know what the show is like.

I saw him last Friday in Portland. Frankly, I don’t think he’s ever sounded better. It was a real jaw-dropper of a show. He even stayed after the show for a session and sat down next to me as I was pulling out my pipes…“Let’s hear those pipes,” he said. “Go on, lash out.” So I played a couple of tunes, all the while feeling like I was about to explode. Afterwards, he said “Lovely stuff. Really nice sounding pipes.” I very nearly squealed out loud like a schoolgirl.

What a guy…

saw him in NYC a few months back…my only complaint, he only played two hours :sniffle:

Just got back, and what can I say?! I’m still speachless! It was amazing!!! We got him to play “Harvest Home” and that was quite a thing! He and Tommy went nuts on “Bucks of Oranmore”. Tommy’s voice is amazing and his guitar is enchanting. You’re in for a big treat at the Plough Justine. Just hope the pub-goers there give Paddy and Tommy the respect they deserve. A rowdy lot over there I’ve heard. Well, I’m very much more inspired after seeing him play. And planning on starting reedmaking after his telling me I should start doing so immediately when I was talking to him. Well, all in all a fabulous experience for me, even got my roomates to tag along and they loved it. Thought I should have them hear what pipes SHOULD sound like since they have to listen to me play all the time. K, time for me to wind down. Night everyone.

Since we’re on the subject, and I haven’t seen it mentioned here before, there’s an interesting profile and interview with Paddy at:

:astonished:

Hehe, I just remembered. He and Tommy played Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Mozart for a little bit. It was quite a hoot. Just thought I’d share that.

Just went to see Paddy last night…I enjoyed his playing but I was a bit disappointed that there were so many songs in the concert from the guitar player. I would have preferred for the majority of the concert to be piping, not singing, but I guess the general public likes that kind of thing. I guess I am just biased that I would prefer a concert of just piping!

Hehe, there was so much singing and cross genre music going on that I actually thought I was at a Chieftains concert for a minute there

The horror!!

I went to the Chieftains concert in Toronto on Thursday… I actually liked it. The only problem I had was that Paddy didn’t do a piping solo. That would have been sweet.

Oh well… maybe someday Paddy Keenan will come up to Toronto…
