Maybe of interest to some of you: I just heard Paddy Donoghue is launching a CD later this month in Pepper’s in Feakle. Paddy is one of the stalwarts of Clare fluteplaying, featured in the Ballinahynch Ceiliband formed in 1942 in Martin Rochford’s house in Bodyke that went on to become the Tulla in later years. He has a book of compositions to his name. As a young man he was highly regarded as a piper (durign the early fifties he played Sean Reid’s pipes, now in the hands of Liam O Flynn, which he had on extended loan) In recent years he’s been out playing with Vincent Griffin a lot. During the early seventies Paddy, out of necessity, changed to the Boehm flute but if you hear him, you can’t hold it against him.
