Ceol agaus Foinn : CD with music from 30 years Willie Week

Last night a double CD ‘Ceol Agus Foinn : Music from the Willie Clancy Summer School’ was launched in Spanish Point. The CD has bee nproduced by RTE Raidio na Gaeltachta and has 40 tracks selected from the archive of recordings from 30 years of the Willie Clancy Summer School.

Whistle-wise there are gems from Brid O Donohue, Michio Russell, Sean Ryan, Francie McPeake and Gussie Russell. it’s particularly nice to have a recording of the notoriously shy and reluctant to play in public Gussie included.

Also on the CD music by PJ Crotty, Nial Keegan, Junior Crehan and Bobby Casey, Paddy Canny, PJ Hayes and Francie Donnellan, Joe Ryan, Sean Talty, jimmy O Brien-MoranLarry Kinsella, Gerdie Commane, Marty O Keeffe, Hugh Healy, Edel McWeeney, Siobhan Peoples, Bill McNamara, Tony Crehan, Vincent Griffin and others

Another launch will take place in Galway on april 18 and separate tracks will be up for purchase on iTunes.

I am not seeing this available on-line anywhere. Do you have any tips on who will be carrying this?

Thx,

djm

RTE would have it I suppose and all the usual suspects. They said it will be on iTunes around the time of the the Galway launch. It will trickle through eventually. It’s a nice collection and fair play to them for not going for all the famous names and for getting a lot of Clare players in.

I hope we can buy the whole two CD set in iTunes instead of having to buy each track if we want them all. That could get pricey.

The double CD was very reasonably priced @ €20, more often than not the price of a single CD album with 15 or 16 tracks (and I have seen a few of those go at prices up to €23. Don’t know about iTunes though.
