Pa. Renfaire or Celtic Fest

Anyone aware of a Renfaire or Celtic Festival in Pa. on 7/10/05 ? If so I would appreciate any info or links to info, Thanks

There is an Irish Fest in Gettysburgh on the 16th. Google for Adams county Irish festival.

Ron

Thanks for the info Ron. Are you going?

I will be there with a few essential whistles. I hope some others might be there as well. I see there is a tin whistle workshop. I will probably stop there to see whats happening.

Ron

I’ll be occupied with watching our 2 year old until 4:00 pm but hope to head up after that. It’s over an hour drive though so aren’t sure if we will make it . It lasts untill 8:00 pm so if the S.O. and little one are up to it we are going to go.

Hi just for info the Pa renfaire has their celtic fling every june.It is one of the best I have ever gone to.
this year they had an Irish step dance competition before the fair opened for the day.very nice!

It’s just me doing the workshop again, and they’ve only allowed a half-hour. We can probably run a little longer as there’s nothing scheduled in the space for the following half-hour.

Any suggestions or requests? It’s a challenge to plan for, as I’ve got no idea whether it’ll be a bunch of raw beginners or people who could teach me a thing or two.

I am sure you could teach me much. I think it must be a hassle to plan for. It all depends on who shows up. It could be a bunch of beginners or seasoned session players. I stopped by the session tent at Leesburg and didn’t even take a whistle out of the pack. Way out of my league. I will look for you there. You can be the second chiffer I have met in person the other being Emmline.

Ron

Lee Marsh made it in last year–you’d be perhaps the 3rd or 4th Chiffer for me, but (alas) I haven’t met Em yet.

You’ll be able to figure out who I am, so be sure and introduce yourself!

M

I’m hear to tell ya that Ron Kiley is a nice dude.

We met up at the Adams County Irish Festival on July 16. He patiently sat through my tinwhistle workshop and introduced himself afterward. Several of us had a fun time showing off our assorted whistles while we waited to make sure the rain had stopped.

Thank goodness they gave us a tent!

The festival is seeking organizational volunteers for next year to make sure it can be a continuing event. I signed up, and if you’re both nearby and interested, you can visit http://www.adamscountyirishfestival.com/ for contact information.

Margaruite is a great person as well. She had a very nice workshop. After a short time she had everybody playing together on a jig. It was my first time to play with others. When I get lost there is nothing I can do to get it back. I was able to play Margaruites Maple Busman. That is real nice Paul. Like Margaruite said it poured rain but we were under a tent. We shared some whistles until it stopped. Unfortunately our seats over at the main stage were not under the tent.

It is a small festival but a very fun festival. There are always a lot of Irish Wolfhounds in attendance. I think I could have rode one of them. If I was closer I certainly would volunteer to help.

Ron

Thanks Ron!

Here’s one thing I learned from the day: In order to give the beginners a little more sense of having learned to play, I need to have a slower tune on hand to teach (duh!).

Next year, I promise something leisurely from O’Carolan!
