You bet. I plan to start paddling up river from Memphis early tomorrow afternoon. Luckily my son has consented to allow his mother and I access to his batchelor pad for two nights on the condition that I buy several rounds of his favorite beverage at the sessions. He promised to act as navigator on outbound sorties but no guarantee about the return trips.
Maybe Dale should design and issue a C&F button or something so members can recognize each other in Public. What they did after that would be up to them.
I’ll be there. Last year I took the intermediate class with Grey, and I gained a number
of really good insights and techniques from him. Although, he did recommend a way
to hold the whistle that was (and still is) really difficult for me (due the the extrodinary
length of my middle finger, and the fact that the last joint is somewhat malformed
because of an injury in high school), but other than that he’s a great teacher and
I still remember just about everything he taught.
I’ll be going back to the intermediate class again this year to work on my A and B
rolls. I just can’t seem to get my strike fingers to move fast enough to sound right,
and my favorite jig (the Kesh jig) sounds so much better with rolls on those notes.
I’ll be there - but am going to John Skelton’s flute workshop. It would be worth your time to find John and purchase his tunebook and CD “A Few Tunes” from him. Great tunes and a great CD to learn from.
Now, to pretend I’m in front of Mike Burke’s table of whistles and practice saying “NO!!” (or at least not more than one!!)
What part of town is this held in? There’s an outside chance I could make it down this weekend.
Different things happen in different places. See http://www.tionol.org/ for details. The concert Sat night should be great, if your are in town and can get tickets
I’ll be there! Can’t wait… I’ve signed up for the Intermediate Whistle class. Anyone going down to the Tap Room tonight for the session? By the way… the Boys of the Lough were incredible Wednesday night.

Great, I’m in town and don’t have a clue what’s going on, or where…not surprising really, I’ve had my head buried in work over in Earth City for the the last 4 weeks, and the next 4.
If I can figure out where stuff is going on, and how to get there in time, I may make it…

The weekend in St Louis is over and I personally thought it was great. Events were well planned. The classes were informative. The entertainment was out of site. If you missed it - shame, shame, shame.
Michael Burke was there with several tables full of goodies and WHOA slipped up behind me while I was just looking. My new brass “D” plays better then I do.

I was there too. It was nice to meet Jay from Tulsa. First CF person I have met! Hi Jay!
Grey Larsen was great!!! The class was small so we each got some individual time with him. I liked the way he taught a tune…he played a segment several times while we hummed it along with him; then we played and he hummed. I will certainly buy his book when it comes out.
And I too bought a whistle from Mr Burke.
Hi Lizzie!
I see you got to meet Patrick O’Riordan on your way home. I’m very jealous.
I, too, fell victim to one of Michael Burk’s whistles – an Al Pro low D, which is just lovely. (This is the third time I’ve made the trek to St. Louis and I’ve come home with a new whistle each time.)
I agree that Grey Larson’s class was really good. I want to post some information about his new book when I get home and can get to the flyer he handed out.

Jay. please do that…I am sure there would be interest.
Yes, meeting Pat O’Riordan was quite a thrill for me. I still can’t believe he gave me that C tube.
I am trying to get Grey Larsen to teach up here next year at the Celtic College in Goderich, Ontario. He said he would love to go there, and they said they would love to have him. Sounds promising.
Celtic College is a great week with amazing staff…I guess it would be a long haul for you..but it would be cheap for you with how your dollar would go up here. The entire four days tuition is $ 275 Cdn, under $ 200 US.
Am I tempting you? I am trying.
Loren, left you a PM.
