Dang, Mike! That’s about the whole tootin’ match!

I’m going to try and make it out there. Maybe Uncle Sam can help get out there with the old tax return.

A tax return NOT spent on flutes? Isn’t that like, a sacrilege or something?

John

If I was getting enough back to fund a flute, I’d probably be making enough to not need it to fund travel expenses. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d be happy to take other folks’ returns to buy a new flute though.

I was hoping that having it after tax time might help in the recovery.
Mike

Actually, on a serious note - who’s going? Looks like I’ll be able to swing it.

I’m halfway considering it.

It would be a first for me.

But the idea that everything is “driving distance” is putting me off a bit.

I don’t really want to rent a car, and I don’t like relying on others for transportation.
It’s a city that I am not in the least familiar with.

I think I am talking myself out of it… actually.
M

I’m going - had my room reserved for a month now. Just don’t know what workshop to take.

Too bad I didn’t know about this earlier. There was a “systemwide fare sale” on a particular airline that amounted to $39 airfare for flights between Jan30 and May23, but we had to book by Jan 26. If anyone hears of any upcoming deals like that, please post them here for the benefit of us all.

I’m considering it, and would love to go. But I direct two elementary music programs at my school that week. Dealing with 200+ fourth and fifth graders may leave me exhausted by Friday. :astonished: I’ll think about it!

Jeanie

Getting around Saint Louis is easier than it may seem. While relying on others may seem a bit of a problem - in this case, most folks with cars are only too willing to help those without.

Like Mike said, my experience has been that it’s easy to catch a ride with folks; I know we’ve certainly driven people around. Everyone’s very congenial, and happy to help! Plus, it’s pretty easy to spot the musicians; just follow the folks with the cases and you’ll get where you need to go.

Mary, if you come we’ll be happy to chauffeur you; if you do, just pick a hotel in a fairly central location. It’s probably better to choose a hotel nearer mid- or downtown than to the school; you’re only at Nerinx on Saturday, and the sessions and concert hall and stuff are closer in.

Anyway, if you want to, let me know and we can try to coordinate hotel arrangements!

Hang in there, Jeanie!

Peadar O’Loughlin, Kevin Henry, Mike Rafferty, Laurence Nugent, John Skelton…

I’m thinking I don’t want to miss this year. I need to catch up with some of you fine folks anyway.. Hope I can make it.

Jonathan,
There was a small error on the website. Peadar was here last year and won’t be joining us in 07 unfortunately. I’ll have that fixed promptly. The other’s will be here this year.
Mike

Bump.

Also on the day of classes, after lunch John Skelton will be tutoring a class in tunes from the Breton and Gallician regions.

The class is for advanced players only. This is because John will be trying to teach as many tunes in the class as possible plus giving background info on the types of tunes and styles in those regions. So it’ll be survival of the fittest for a few hours

Should be interesting. John is quite the expert in music from Brittany and north western Spain.

Tommy

So the proper instrument for this class is the recorder
