OT- FREE CTL CONCERT IN EAST HARTFORD, CT

Hello All: I just learned that Cherish the Ladies will be doing a concert on the East Hartford Town Green next Thursday evening, June 12th, starting at 6:30 P.M.

This is a great chance to listen to some good music, for free.

Bring you blankets, lawn chairs, etc., and have a good time.

Here’s a link, in case you want to check it out for yourself.

Whooooo hooooooooo!

Tom, I’ll be there!

As will my wife and I, barring some rotten event like work or something interfering- Hopefully we can meet up.

Well, after a couple failed PMs and emails, I just want to say that there’s a remote chance we might make it to the concert. Can anybody tell me where this Green is, and whether people are planning on getting together?

Drop me a pm or reply here, thanks!

Robin

Robin- The East Hartford Town Green is located at 1021 Main Street. . There is a large concrete Clock Tower that is part of the Town Green.

Be careful if you plug ithe address into Yahoo Maps, because every so often, (not always, but every now and again), Yahoo Maps seems to confuse it with Main Street in Hartford. If your map says roads like Burnside Avenue and/or Tolland Street/Tolland Turnpike, you are in the right area. It if says Asylum Street, then it mistakenly has pulled up Hartford- don’ let this worry you or stop you from coming, it doesn’t happen often and it’s easy to get to the East Hartford Town Green, coming from your direction.

I assume that you would come down I-84. If so, get off at Exit 60 (note that exits 62 and 60 have the same off ramp- just keep going on that ramp following the signs for Exit 60). At the bottom of the off-ramp for Exit 60, you’ll take a right, onto Burnside Avenue. You’ll know that you are on the right track, if as soon as you make that right turn onto Burnside you see a large park, Wickham Park, on your right, and a couple of apartment buildings on the left.

You’ll stay on Burnside Avenue for quite a way- I don’t know the actual distance, but it will probably be between 5 - 10 minutes of actual driving time, depending upon how many of the lights you hit red.

Burnside Ave will bottom out at Main Street. You will make a left turn on Main Street and the Town Green will only be a short distance down Main Street- 1/10th of a mile or so.

Not sure yet about meeting up. I’ll try to drive by this weekend and see if I can scout out a good spot for meeting, and then next week I’ll send both you and Tyghress a message, and if you know by then, you can let me know if you are attending.

All the Best, Tom

You probably knew there was no way for me to let a CTL thread go without some sort of comment (all the best to you, my Lady friends)!

All I can say is if you’re within, let’s say, 100 miles of East Hartford, then GO!

Take care,
Jim

Bump!

Just saw CTL with Solas in Charlottesville at a Re-Imagining Ireland Conference (also Green Fields of America-Mick Moloy, and DeDannan).

CTL was terrific and so were the rest of the groups. Well worth seeing!

Yes, they are excellent to see in concert. When we lived in the D.C. area, we saw them a couple of times that the Irish Festival that used to be held there. They have an excellent rapport with the audience and it’s great music.

All the Best, Tom

They will be in the Washington area on Saturday the 14th and Sunday the
15th at the Potomac Celtic Festival in Leesburg, VA. I definitely will be
there on Saturday. Hope to see other whistlers there.
