I attended the Cherish the Ladies concert at Frankland, Ky tonight. The ladies put on a real fine show. In addition to all the great music, the group visited with fans after the concert. Joanie Madden was absolutely wonderful (actually, they all were ). In addition to great whistle playing, Joanie is a real hoot. I’ll bet this lady has fun EVERY single day of her life. She’s the kind of gal you would love to have for a neighbor. A few days ago public television broadcast the program featuring Celtic Woman. It is my understanding they will appear live in Nashville in March. That is another show I will be sure to attend. I recently moved to middle Tennessee and am glad to have this type of entertainment available. If you get a chance to see either of these groups it will be money well spent.

Yeah-- I’d encourage anyone to get to one of their shows. Hang out afterwards too: Joanie and the band usually come out and chat with the crowd.
OBLIGATORY POST!
It will probably be quite some time before they come through my area again. Is there any cure for CTL withdrawal? ![]()
Love ya, Ladies! ![]()
This past weekend, we did a crafts show in Morristown, NJ. We talked about staying over on Sunday night after it was over, for a leisurely return on Monday, but we came home. I turned on my computer, came to C&F and saw Joanie’s post about CTL’s concert tour. They were in Morristown, NJ that night. Hmph!!!
They’re sold out here in Richfield Ohio, and if Joannie visits this board and can get me two tickets, I’d appreciate it ![]()
I’d be very cautious lumping CTL and the Celtic Women show in the same catagory. CTL is a great act to be sure and they are true to their traditional roots in many regards. The Celtic Women show however, could not be further from the old tradition in every conceivable way. But for those who love that sort of show (over-produced, over-choreographed, flash and glitter) - fair play.
Flame on.
I used to live in Randolph, which is right next to Morristown. There are probably two Irish bands per season who play at the Theater there. Last season I saw Gaelic Strom and would have seen Teada, but there was lots of ice on the road. I was kind of sad that the CTL show didn’t happen in Mo-town (yeah people call it that) during my winter break.
Actually, much of my listening occurs in the rich middle ground between the two. Groups like Blackmore’s Night, Clannad, Fairport Convention, Solas, Steeleye Span, Jethro Tull, and Stonecircle. ![]()
No flames from me. ![]()
Brian, you have a PM. ![]()
Slainte,
Jim
I have seen CTL several times at the Cleveland Irish Cultural Festival. They are very much worth going to see. Great musicianship, presentaion and a sense of humor. You’ll be glad you went!
We saw them (CTL) 2 weeks ago in Annapolis. Enjoyable. I concur with the description of the group’s(and particularly Joannie’s) friendliness with the crowd.

Teada is great.
I got to see them three or four times at the “Dayton Celtic Festival” last July in Dayton, Ohio. (I also managed to listen to a few minutes of Gaelic Storm there.) During the week leading up to the festival, Teada’s flute player Damian Stenson taught a three day whistle workshop. I was lucky enough to attend. Again, a great group of musicians; great session leaders, too. ![]()
