OT: Avatarxplanation

Since avatars change (rather frequently, with some folk  ), thought I might explain the current one and leave a link so’s if I suddenly get tired of it, you’ll still know what it was right now and what it meant. Not that it matters, but hey, I’m bored…

This is me playing guir in the North Kansas City (MO) “Snake Saturday Parade”, their tribute to St. Paddy’s Day. The two lasses in the foreground are whistle and re*der players from the Kansas City Renaissance Festival.

Back to the shop, now.

I’m just a Lex Luthor apologist. Poor thing. His daddy isn’t very nice to him. He needs a hug.

:stuck_out_tongue:

I keep telling people - it’s a photo.

Jim. Whistle player. Guitarist. Computer geek. STORM SPOTTER!

I was getting bored with my Avatars so:

The Crystal people are here!!!

That’s very cool, Daniel.

(Which way to the special food?)

Best wishes,
Jerry

Special Food? The fluid in mouthpiece is liquid crystal.

The origins of the word avatar are interesting - the original term is from Hinduism, the earthly manifestation of a deity. Hackers appropriated it at some point to use as a person’s reprenstation in a system.

All hand inked by me and scanned. The left figure is a man I believe his name was “Panamon Creel” or something like that from the Terry Brooks Series the Sword of Shannara, I copied it from an illistration in one of the books, I hand coppied it, not traced, the original picture was in a paperback novel. The Right hand figure is a woman dressed in skimpy “fantasy” armor holding two flaming swords that one is all mine. I ‘glued’ the two pictures together the one with the woman in it also had the beginings of a dragon, I got bored with it, and stopped drawing it when I almost completed the head. I was using heavy INK paper (sort of like poster paper) which doesn’t take kindly to too much erasing. I pencil things in first using a .03 graphic design pencil, then I ink them in, let the ink dry then I erase the pencil out. When I erase too much before I even get to the ink stage it ruins the paper and makes the ink soak in and spread out like i was drawing on construction paper. Now that I have rambled on and on about stuff that doesn’t matter, I’m going to bed. I’m sure there is all sorts of spelling mistakes too, but I just don’t give a rats patoot.

Very cool avatar, Cyf… Panamon Creel was indeed his name; the Sword of Shannara books are wonderful, one of my all-time favorite series. Do you have a link to a larger file for your picture, I’d love to see it!

Blessings,
Andrea

I don’t have a link but I have the two originals stored on my computer. The one I used as my Avatar picture I deleted cleaning off my desktop. It was tiny anyway, can’t be bigger than 100x100 pixels or something like that. The originals I scanned full size, so they are rather big.

I’ll give you an ftp link if you want to put them on my system for d/l or I’d be happy to resize them for you with Photoshop to make 'em email-able.

I got more photo editing programs that I can shake a stick at. Including Photoshop 6 and 7 Paintshop Pro 9 and Freehand 10. Emailing Pictures aint a Problem  I can send a 300Mb file in less than 15 Minutes so 27k isn’t going to slow me down much  as I turns out I must have accidently saved the picture of the woman when I was resizing it. It used to be 11"x 8.5" now its something like 6x4 :frowning: I hate it when I do that. I still have the paper copy but my scanner took a crap oh say 2 years ago or so. Cheep computer show junk

Enough scary guys. Maybe I’ll go with:

So snail-mail me the picture, you big dummy! My mailing addy is on the site. I’ll be happy to re-scan it and burn it to CD for you! (Heck, I may even send you the original back! )
Cheers,

Hey! I’m not dumb  and I only tip the scales at 199 but that’s not bad for 6’1"… does that make me a “Mountain of a man?” Hmm i feel more like a foothill.

Very Flash Dale

hmmmm… does that mean Stacey is a flasher, too? She just looked kinda twisted, to me! (Was it painful, Stace?)

 :astonished: :boggle:
