I don’t know if this has been pointed out before, but this was a big surprise to me. As I was browsing through some of the Bodhránii posts from the mailing list, I read a post about a performance of Lúnasa on the internet.
Do a search for Lunasa to find two movie files. To my surprise there was one of Flook as well (of April 2003). Both are great shows! I’m really looking forward to see Lúnasa this year and Flook in Januar next year. Oh, it could be worth the time to see all the shows they’ve taped and put online. You can find some real gems there.
Hmmm…
of course After I posted my message I did a search on the Kennedy Center and saw that this site has been pointed to several times before already.
It still is a great site though Sorry for the repetition.
there are a number of good Irish music shows at the Kennedy Center. There have been a couple, at least, on Dec 26 featuring Billy McComisky, Zan Mcleod and a fiddler. Another recent one is Bohola-sometime in January 2003, I think. Depending on you tastes, there are many other shows of traditional music, jazz, blues, old time music, etc, etc. I keep the index page bookmarked and check it occasionally. They upgraded their video either late last year or early this year so that more recent shows have better video. Was it Flook where the guitar player broke a string right off the bat? Anyway, here’s the index page.
There’s no video with this one, but it’s one hour of Lunasa performing live in studio at WGHB (several sets) and all the band members being interviewed. Scroll down to the Live Performance Audio Archive for Lunasa and others.
