I have been going through the available videos at the Kennedy Center web site and noting down the shows that I may want to see. I have a list of about 40 traditional music shows, many Irish. Right now I’m watching one from Dec 26 2002 with Billy McComisky, Jim Eagen and Zan McCleod. It takes a little time to go through them all but it’s worth while if you’ve got little spare time. The video quality has recently improved dramatically. There’s also a good one from this month with a band called Bohola. I haven’t found much whistle playing except for Lunasa.

OK you aspiring guitar pikkers. Go watch that Dec 26 show. About 33 min into the programs Zan picks Rakish Paddy and The Wise Maid. Then about 40 min into the show the fiddler plays a couple of tunes. It looks like the fiddler told Zan the key of the first tune-implying they hadn’t rehearsed that. Listen to the way Zan lays back a little and then launches in. Great DADGAD playing.
