Off Topic Regulator Playing

Although this guy is not playing the pipes, I think he has enough coordination to play the regs…

Give it some time to load completely

That’s incredible playing, Ed. Where’d you come across the clip? Who is the guy and where is he from? I’d say he would pick up the regs pretty quickly if he set his mind to it.

Oddly enough, I got this from the Cajun accordion forum. One perosn has posted that he’s from South Africa:

“Hannes Coetzee’s is a soft-spoken 72-year old whose job is tapping the aloes that grow around his Karoo hometown of Herberstdale for their medicinal juice. Hannes composes his own songs and learnt to play the guitar on the side of the hill when the aloes were too dry to tap and to keep himself company on long lonely evenings in the mountains of the Kamiesbeg. The only known practitioner of the ‘optel and knyp’style he must rank as one of the most unusual slide guitarists in the world. If you shut your eyes you would think that there were two people accompanying each other on guitars.”

Its also on some of the guitar forums. Do a google on: Hannes Coetzee

Good news gets around … Ed

Cool guitar, Ed. I wish Bernard was online to see it.

BTW, Ed, give a listen to my C pipes. Right click to download.

I think I have the chanter and drones tuned now. Chanter reed by Bernard Grigsby, drone reeds brass body w arundo donax tongues by me.

Your pipes sound great and you put a lot of
expression in your piping. I like those C pipes!

You both have done great on the reeds.
