New version of PalmABC

Hi y’all,

I’ve added a couple of new useful features to PalmABC, the most excellent freeware .ABC player for Palm V and later Pilots:

  • Ability to search and do repeat searches through the tune titles for a string. Useful if like me, you have 1500 tunes in the .ABC database. The search strings are currently case-sensitive.

  • More stylistically accurate playback of short and long rolls

To install the updated version:

  1. Download and install the original PalmABC software from the PalmABC home page using the installer:

http://www.gander.demon.co.uk/palmabc.htm

  1. Download and install my updated PalmABC.prc from:

http://members.home.com/eskin/PalmABC.prc

  1. Hotsync your Palm to copy the new .prc file to your device.

Please let me know if you run into any issues with the new features or would like a copy of the modified source files.

Cheers,

The Palm ABC is awesome. I’ve been keeping tune notations in seperate notes, but this is a killer app.

Thanks!

I Use a Psion 3a with Bertrand Daums Excellent MusiPoc - Music in my Pocket Software.
It can Import Midi files, display them as a score and play in up to two voices.
My telescopic ‘laughing whistle’ slips neatly into its wallet too so I’m never without a tune in a difficult situation.
Dontcha just love technology?
It’s all a bit James Bond…

“Lark in the Morning Moneypenny?”

ouch!

Hi Michael,

I love the PalmABC software! Thanks! Does it have the ability to sort alphabetically? I would love to be able to go to a certain letter of the alphabet and find the tune by name . . .

All the best,

–KR

Unfortunately, it doesn’t sort, but you can search by name, do repeat searches. That’s the feature I added to the program. I keep 1600+ tunes on my PalmV and can get to them very quickly.

Cheers,

Michael
