There are several programs that will do abc. Here’s a list of some of them:

Henrik Norbek’s shareware program is AbcMus - http://www.norbeck.nu/abcmus/ but it doesn’t work very well.

There are several on-line ABC utilities as well, such as:

I haven’t seen a very smooth application for editting ABC, but perhaps that’s because ABC is very much a grass-roots type of thing that never got too polished.

Can you elaborate a bit more about Abcmus? I’ve been using it for years now and have never had a problem. I haven’t yet found an abc program that I like better. I will say that I’m still running the old 1.1 version because I didn’t care for 2.0 very much. Just curious …

Hi, Bill. I am using AbcMus 2.0. I don’t like it that I have to close Play Now everytime I make changes to the tune in the Editor, and then re-open Play Now. They each seem to use their own separate buffers. I don’t like it that I have to save each change for other utilities in the program to find. I don’t like it that tunes I get the timing right for in AbcMus don’t always translate correctly to other abc applications like Tune-o-Tron. The documentation is difficult to find anything in, to put it mildly, with each symbol seeming to require at least a half-hour search. Other than that, its just peachy! :smiley:

The Tune-O-Tron at http://www.concertina.net/tunes_convert.html is really handy! I used it to make the sheet music for the FAQ page on my site.

DJM,

After a quick look at Abcmus 2.0 I was reminded how clumsy it was to use. I’m using 1.1b and for the life of me I cannot consider 2.0 an improvement.
