Thanks for pointing that out, Mark. The National Library has rather good holdings in most media.

A couple of years ago, a few of us in a concertina internet group were thinking of bringing out some historical recordings of old Australian concertina styles. We ran out of steam before it happened but we would have been heavily reliant on the Library for material. There really isn’t a commercial reissue market for early Australain music of any style other than rock and the most schmaltzy and hackneyed nostalgia. It’s actually quite surprising how much was recorded and, for example, how much quite good early jazz was recorded way back in the early days. Unlike early English and French jazz, it didn’t seem to get noticed overseas.
